Meeting Recap 11/19/2020

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We are thankful for all of our UNICEF members!!

At our Thursday meeting, we announced our new Assistant officers joining our UNICEF officer board for this school year!

Please welcome:

Secretary Assistant: Samantha Dorian

Communications Assistant: Kenzie Megid

Arts Assistant: Carolyn Cho

Fundraising Assistant: Michaela Medel

We are so excited to work with you all this year!

We also discussed the importance of World Children's Day (November 20th) and watched a video by Henrietta Fore, the executive director of UNICEF addressing 8 reasons why we must fight for children's rights which are listed below:

1. In need of clean water, air, and a safe climate

2. Life in disaster zones

3. Openness to mental health

4. Forced migration

5. Lack of official documentation to prove children’s existence.

6. Lack of education; lack of skilled worker

7. Dangers of social media

8. False information online

To wrap up this meeting on a special note, we created breakout rooms and made Thanksgiving cards for the elderly (Santa Clarita Seniors!) with positive uplifting messages for the holidays.
