Our UNICEF community today had a special project that we all were excited to complete together!
Announcements that we covered first were the following:
1) Collaboration meeting with Ralliance, an initiative started by Zoe Monterola and Brenda Kim to combat and raise awareness about rape culture, specifically locker room talk at high schools! We are excited to have them with us for the month of Female Empowerment!
2) Our care package fundraiser is currently going! We will be granting 2 hours of community service (NHS credited!) for one care package or 1 hour per item!
The maximum amount of products that can be bought are the following:
- 2 bundles & 2 add-ons for 6 maximum hours
This is open to even non-UNICEF members! The official order form can be accessed here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfuNYcFEZ2nZ-qJ7xs3fEXR01b2WcqtKgVtE8RGyOUSHoxfRQ/viewform
We introduced our amazing advisor for UNICEF, Ms. Lahey to newer members! Afterwards, we set our calendar for upcoming themes as February is Gender Equality and Female Empowerment; March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; and finally, April will be focused on Climate!
We then discussed about the importance of gender equality, especially raising awareness about it in our own city of Santa Clarita! After watching a video and discussing how UNICEF specifically helps with gender equality awareness, we had a project collaboration with Special Olympics, where we wrote letters to athletes with special needs encouraging them and fill with empowering words during these difficult times.
We concluded with our usual exit ticket! We hope to see you all at the Ralliance collaboration meeting; we are so excited to see you then!
