Meeting Recap: 2/15/23

Today, we had a quick discussion on the disastrous earthquakes that occurred in Syria. Thousands of people were injured and approximately 4,300 people were killed. Although the earthquake took place in an area that had a lot of humanitarian needs, there appears to be very weak hospital systems in Syria. Syria is also experiencing a cholera epidemic and severe cold weather, but fortunately the UN has appealed $397 million for aid and support for the victims that were struck by the earthquake yesterday. We watched a quick video to recap the earthquake situation in Syria and discussed ways to help those affected: donation to UNICEF chapter, spread awareness, post links to donations, infographics, resources, start a GoFundMe donation drive, and create conversations with family and friends. We are hoping to hold a donation drive at the beginning of March... more information will be sent on the Remind and Instagram. Next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 1! See you all there :)
