Meeting Recap: 2/1/22

Happy February, UNICEF members! At today's meeting, we focused on UNICEF's partnership with Ready To Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), a peanut paste of high nutritional value, made of skimmed milk, butter, vegetable oil, peanuts, and sugar, to help treat children across the world suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM). As the leader of the manufacturing facility, UNICEF has helped purchase and distribute an estimated 75-80% of the world's supply to children in need. These150 packets require no refrigeration and it only takes a 6-8 week course of treatment to cure the health of millions of children. To wrap up the meeting, we watched a quick video (*link below*) that gave us an inside look on how the Ready To Use Therapeutic Food packets were made and we did a quick activity to help us learn more about our members of Congress, which will lead into our focus at the next meeting. See you on February 16th!
